Hello! My name is Carrie and I’m a mixed-media fiber artist living in the Pacific Northwest. I work mainly in embroidery, often incorporating wood, paint, image-transfer and stop-motion video into my practice. The expressive, textural nature of fiber has a unique, communicative quality that I feel is especially conducive to contemporary art-making. My aim is to help expand the perception of traditional craft techniques to the realm of contemporary art. My current work includes mixed-media diorama sculptures that explore personal identity within the context of domesticity and societal expectations. I find inspiration in the absurdity and sadness of life.
